Maple and Acorn

Mixed Breed · Female · Kitten · 4 months

Maple and Acorn are a 2-year-old mum and 11-week-old son ginger duo who are looking for their forever homes together or separately. Maple is a sweet but feisty little lady who is incredibly affectionate and friendly in her own way and very much on her own terms. She will headbutt, nuzzle and rub herself up against anything and everything around her, often with so much enthusiasm that she regularly bonks her head or knocks herself off balance. She is incredibly playful and will happily bowl her son out of the way if it means getting to a toy first. She loves string toys and bouncy balls and has a particular talent for impressive jumps and back flips when chasing her favourite mouse toy. With time and trust, she enjoys a head scratch or chin tickle and is becoming more accepting of strokes in general. After a few months of being a busy mum and looking out for herself and her kittens, Maple is ready to find a safe and comfortable home where she can relax, have some fun and continue to discover just how lovely people can be. Acorn is a typical ginger boy kitten who is incredibly fun, playful and enthusiastic and, since day one, has toddled around the house with complete confidence as though he owns the place. He loves any and every toy he can get his paws on, whether that’s charging through his tunnel, wrestling with a string toy, chasing balls and mice, trying to catch fish and mice on his foster family’s phones or even getting into a scrappy wrestling match with their hands. Once he’s worn himself out, he has a wonderfully cuddly side, complete with a very loud purr, and is starting to headbutt and rub against his foster family just like his mum. Acorn was the only one of his three siblings to survive and, as a result, has had to learn to entertain himself and rely on his mum and foster family for companionship. He’s now ready to find a forever home where he can have plenty of fun, cuddles and adventures. Maple and Acorn have previously lived with other cats and would likely be happy to share their new homes with feline companions. Maple would also be happy to live with children who are respectful of her boundaries. Both Maple and Acorn will be neutered, vaccinated and microchipped before adoption. About Maple and Acorn

What life with Maple and Acorn looks like

Maple and Acorn is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at RSPCA Altrincham & Cheshire in United Kingdom.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maple and Acorn, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maple and Acorn?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Altrincham & Cheshire handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maple and Acorn on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maple and Acorn if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Altrincham & Cheshire will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maple and Acorn already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maple and Acorn isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Altrincham & Cheshire early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maple and Acorn and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
