Maradona

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Maradona is a male mixed breed, born on March 1, 2019, according to our information, he died with his owner, the neighbors took care of him, then he was brought to a horror yard that was mentioned for the shelter, which the authorities successfully dismantled. Maradona arrived with the help of the Animal Protection Service foundation. When he arrived, he was in complete shock from the commotion around him, from the trip and the box. He attacked us snarling, bursting out of the box, spitting saliva, with eyes full of blood. But we just "cuddled" with him, and also called his belly for help with delicious treats. After 5 minutes we were walking on a leash and has been cheerful and friendly ever since. Unfortunately, his heartworm test came back positive, but like many of our dogs, he will also recover. We very much hope that this beautiful smile will soon have an owner. We would very much like the future family to give him enough time to adjust, showing him with patience and love what a real dog's life is like, where he can participate in the family's activities and live as a family member. Maradona is vaccinated, microchipped and ready for adoption after being neutered.

About Maradona

What life with Maradona looks like

Maradona is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Noé Állatotthon in Budapest.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Heartworm positive - undergoing treatment

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maradona, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maradona?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Noé Állatotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maradona on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maradona if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Noé Állatotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maradona already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maradona isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Noé Állatotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maradona and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
