Adopt MAREK

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Menschenfreud - MAREK - is looking for a quick home - male dog, 3.5 years old, possibly a Swiss Sennenhund - born around October 2022, SH ca. 45-50 cm, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped. - Still waiting in Romania! - Marek is a former Romanian street dog who was caught there because during Romanian communal elections, politicians want street-free streets and want to fool their population into thinking they are solving the street dog problem. Catching and killing is thus the motto, instead of neutering the dogs to stop the permanent supply. Marek was lucky to have ended up in a shelter where one of our animal rescuers has a hand. Due to the increased catching actions, the intake capacity is reduced, so we need to find a suitable home quickly for Marek and his fellow sufferers. Marek is a very people-friendly dogman and gets along well with all his fellow animals. He has already successfully completed his first trial walk on a leash. He always looks forward to being engaged with - and even if it means walking on a leash. Of course, Marek still has a lot to learn as he has not received any training yet. But since he is people-oriented, he is likely to be a good student. For Marek, we are looking for an experienced dog-friendly home, preferably with a house and garden. A foster home would also be welcome. Before travel arrangements, a test for Babesiosis, Borreliosis, Ehrlichiosis, Anaplasmosis, Dirofilariosis, and leishmaniasis will be conducted. Marek is still in Romania.

Menschenfreud - MAREK - sucht baldiges Zuhause - Rüde, 3,5 J., evtl. Schweizer Sennehund - geb. ca. 10/2022, SH ca.45- 50 cm, kastriert, geimpft, gechipt.

About MAREK

What life with MAREK looks like

MAREK is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tier-Not-Hilfe in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting MAREK, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about MAREK?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tier-Not-Hilfe handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw MAREK on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt MAREK if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tier-Not-Hilfe will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is MAREK already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if MAREK isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tier-Not-Hilfe early rather than rehoming privately; they know MAREK and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
