Marfa (Марфа)

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

She is part of our shared story of pain, which we carry through ourselves during every evacuation. We found her during the last departure to the epicenter of hostilities, in the infamous Chornobayivka. Her story is what makes our hearts ache with pain. Arfa was pulled out from under the debris of a building shelled and destroyed. She survived a strong concussion and a powerful blow that hit her directly on the head. We were prepared to see the pain, and we did: some nerve endings were damaged as a result of the injury. These physical manifestations of war are now always with her. Now it is expressed in the fact that she constantly sticks out her tongue, and she also shows some disorientation in space. These characteristics are her marks of war, her reminders of the hell she experienced. But despite everything - Maria is amazing. She adapts well, has an excellent appetite, she is very good and incredibly kind girl. She is looking for a home where she will be loved not "for", but "despite" her little peculiarities, where patience and tenderness will prevail.

About Marfa (Марфа)

What life with Marfa (Марфа) looks like

Marfa (Марфа) is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Happy Paw Kyiv Oblast in Ukraine.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

Frequently asked

Adopting Marfa (Марфа), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Marfa (Марфа)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Happy Paw Kyiv Oblast handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Marfa (Марфа) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Marfa (Марфа) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Happy Paw Kyiv Oblast will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Marfa (Марфа) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Marfa (Марфа) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Happy Paw Kyiv Oblast early rather than rehoming privately; they know Marfa (Марфа) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (UK). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
