Margot

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 4 months

Description Our animal welfare workers report: Margot is a cautious and sensitive female dog who initially meets people with hesitation. While she shows no problems in interacting with fellow animals, she needs time, calmness, and a reliable environment for human contact. As a clever survivor, Margot gave birth to her puppies in a very good hiding place and nursed them there. This was done in the company of another mother dog named Mila, who also raised her offspring in the wild. The two mothers shared the rearing, taking turns in the search for food and supervising the rascals, a practical and sensible partnership; in total, both mothers had to feed ten puppies. Certainly not an easy time for the mother dogs, who had to constantly be on guard against pursuit and expulsion with their defenseless offspring and found little peace. Mila and Margot nursed and groomed all the puppy dogs without discrimination, supporting each other, becoming a real big family; even though this life phase must have been exhausting for the furred mothers. To this day, the female dogs are attached to each other. Margot needs Mila especially! Even though we place both furred mothers separately, a shared home for the two mothers would be a real dream, and especially calming for Margot, who gets comfort, confidence, and orientation from Mila. For Margot, we wish for dog-experienced people in a quiet, rural environment. A home without children where she can gradually settle in. A sovereign only-dog by her side would be a great support for her, as he could give her security and help her better navigate new situations. Who gives Margot comfort and confidence? Please note:

About Margot

What life with Margot looks like

Margot is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Margot, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Margot?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Margot on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Margot if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Margot already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Margot isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Margot and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
