adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Margot has found her forever home! Her story: Margot had a tough start, learning how loud and scary the world can be. Together with her brother, she was picked up by the dog catchers and brought to our shelter – a place full of new sounds, strange dogs, and people. It's no wonder the pretty female dog was initially a bit shy. But once she realized that people meant her well, she opened up – and showed her true self: playful, curious, and simply irresistible. Visually, Margot is a real treasure: her light beige fur with white markings, her cute button eyes, and that cautious look that seeks so much trust. She enjoys playing with other dogs, showing herself to be social and open in the pack. Compatibility with cats has not yet been tested. She hasn't experienced life in a home yet – so many things are still completely new to her. House training, leash walking, car rides, loud noises, or even staying alone – all of this must be learned by Margot step by step. With loving guidance, patience, clear structure, and positive reinforcement, she will surely quickly understand what a family dog needs to know. In a few months, Margot will enter puberty – an important but also challenging time. During this phase, she will begin to test boundaries, question herself and her environment. She might forget what she's learned, suddenly become shyer or more stubborn – all of this is completely normal. For this time, we are looking for people who are ready to guide her calmly, consistently, and understandingly through this phase and not to doubt her when things don't go perfectly. Those who lead Margot through this exciting time with patience, structure, and loving consequence will be rewarded with a wonderful dog – full of trust, joy in life, and deep connection. We wish for Margot people who know that a puppy is not just cute but also requires work. People who are ready to give her security, grow with her, foster her growth, and go through life with her. A visit to a positively working dog training class would certainly be helpful to support her best. Margot will be microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas before being rehomed. She brings an EU pet passport and can be rehomed after a positive foster home experience. She would also be happy to be placed in a foster home. Who will give Margo her forever home? Many thanks to Angie! You named Margot. Status: 04.05.

About Margot

What life with Margot looks like

Margot is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Margot, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Margot?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Margot on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Margot if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Margot already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Margot isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Margot and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
