Maria

Poodle · Female · Puppy · 4 months

Maria, a 34 cm tall, 4.1 kg female, is a rescue from a Linares, Andalusia, animal shelter. She is neutered, microchipped with an EU passport, vaccinated, and tested negative for Mediterranean diseases. Maria is shy, friendly, and gets along well with other dogs. She needs a patient, time-giving home with no expectations and no small children. The adoption fee is 490 euros, including transportation costs to Germany. Maria was rescued from a puppy mill, where dogs are bred for profit and treated as commodities. We hope Maria will find a loving home where she can start a new life. We are looking for a family with no expectations, as we don't know what Maria can do in everyday life or what she needs to learn. Having a confident dog in the new home can be very helpful. If you have few demands, plenty of time, patience, and a big heart for Maria, please contact us, as she could travel to Germany fully vaccinated, microchipped, spayed, dewormed, and tested negative for Mediterranean diseases soon. If you can pick her up in northern Bavaria, we would appreciate your detailed inquiry.

DE·Show original

About Maria

What life with Maria looks like

Maria is a large puppy poodle dog waiting at Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) in Vilseck.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maria, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maria?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maria on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maria if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Maria already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maria isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maria and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
