Marina

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

It arrived in Barcelona in a way we never imagined: hidden inside a container on a ship. For days it traveled without water or food, fighting to keep going. And it succeeded. The Marina is a real warrior. 🌊🛟 When it arrived it was very scared, but with time and a lot of patience it has begun to discover that people can also be safety and affection. It is still a little shy, but each day it takes small steps forward: it now allows itself to be gently petted and is in the process of socialization. The Marina is a very calm, sweet and sensitive kitten. She loves to play and is a wonderful companion for other kittens. She has one eye smaller than the other, but it's just an aesthetic issue: she sees perfectly and it doesn't cause her any problems. 🐾 Now all she needs is the most important thing: a family with love, patience and tenderness, that gives her the time she needs to continue discovering the world with trust. If you have a big heart and want to give her the peaceful and safe life she so deserves after everything she has been through, the Marina is waiting for you.

About Marina

What life with Marina looks like

Marina is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Barcelona Gat i Gos in Spain.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Marina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Marina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Barcelona Gat i Gos handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Marina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Marina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Barcelona Gat i Gos will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Marina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Marina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Barcelona Gat i Gos early rather than rehoming privately; they know Marina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (CA). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
