Marko

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Adopted virtually by: Jolanta Krysztofiak :) Meet Marko, a dog who knows what it means to have a home and a human. He also knows that from one day to the next he can become an unnecessary problem and how hard it is to find your way in a shelter box. Marko, although initially mistrustful and stressed by the whole situation, slowly allows us to befriend him and get to know him better. At this moment, Marko is beginning to bond with the shelter staff, seeking contact more and more often. He has food motivation and gladly takes treats for good behavior on walks. The dog is of the retriever type, which means he needs a significant amount of activity. If not satisfied, he pulls on the leash, and he certainly doesn't lack strength ;) He enjoys playing with a ball and uses it to release excess emotions. He calmly passes other dogs during walks, he hasn't been tested in direct contact yet. We are looking for a home for Marko that will be able to spend time with him on long walks and games together. A person who will show him that he can be trusted and won't break his heart again, understanding but also consistent in training. With the right guidance, Marko will be a wonderful friend. The dog is about 3 years old. Contact, TOZ Krotoszyn - 660662191, 660662171 (we do not respond to SMS, we prefer phone calls, Monday to Friday, during hours). About Marko

What life with Marko looks like

Marko is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Krotoszyn in Krotoszyn.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Marko, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Marko?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Krotoszyn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Marko on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Marko if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Krotoszyn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Marko already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Marko isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Krotoszyn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Marko and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
