Adopt Marla

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy

Name Marla Born 16.01.2026 Gender female dog Breed mixed breed Size will be medium foster home Marla is still in the country with our Romanian animal welfare friends in Campulung. She can travel once we find a foster home (preferably with adoption intentions) in the Mainz/Wiesbaden area. The ages mentioned here are often estimates, as we don't always know the exact age. Other details like size are subjective. We were found in an animal shelter in a cardboard box, not lost in the mountains. We were very sick: our bellies full of worms and our skin covered in wounds. My siblings Elli, Leni, Gismo, and Benny and I have all recovered well and are developing splendidly. Leni looks most like me, just a bit calmer than she is; but she is just as curious, playful, and full of hope for a home! I am not afraid of being petted or stroked by the caregivers, and I am eager to be part of a family. I have not yet experienced the dog 1×1, the walking on a leash, house training, etc. It will take patience, understanding, love, and positive training for me to adapt to my new life with all the new environmental stimuli. We are looking for people who are willing to take on the adventure of an international dog and give them a second chance at a responsible home. The Tierehim in Campulung is also supported by the organization. If you do not live in our catchment area, it is possible to adopt a Fellnase through Seelenhunde. If you are interested in this wonderful dog, please fill out the Referral Form or call us at the phone number provided. Here are a few pictures. To enlarge, please click on an image.

About Marla

What life with Marla looks like

Marla is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Marla, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Marla?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Marla on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Marla if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Marla already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Marla isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Marla and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
