Marlena (w)

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Notfall Marlena urgently seeks her home. Marlena is about 3 years old and roughly 60 cm tall – and she has spent her entire previous life at the public animal shelter in Botoșani (Romania). She has several injuries on her ears and has known nothing but this place… and unfortunately, it hasn’t been good for her. Marlena has now become a true emergency case. We wish so much that she finally gets the chance to leave the animal shelter and move into a loving home. Despite everything, Marlena is a really nice female dog. Visitors from England got to know her and spent time with her – it became clear that she has a great fear of the leash. Even in the greatest panic, she has never snapped! She has no experience of life outside the animal shelter, and much still frightens her. For Marlena, we are therefore looking for an experienced, sensitive person – ideally someone with experience in dealing with insecure dogs or perhaps even a German Shepherd fan. She needs time, patience, and understanding to build trust and adjust at her own pace. A confident, compatible only dog would be a great help and could give her orientation. Marlena seeks: • a quiet, understanding home • dog-experienced people • patience, time, and a warm heart • preferably with a safe only dog Who will finally give this special soul the chance at a better life?

About Marlena (w)

What life with Marlena (w) looks like

Marlena (w) is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. in Nürnberg.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Marlena (w), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Marlena (w)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Marlena (w) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Marlena (w) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Marlena (w) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Marlena (w) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Marlena (w) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
