Adopt Marley

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

The years spent in the kennel pass by for our Marley, who has yet to find the right family. He is a loving, affectionate dog who is close to people. Marley arrived at the shelter in 2018. He was adopted in 2019 but returned in 2020 due to his owner's move. Since then, he has received no requests and is beginning to find the time very long. Marley is a very smart little dog who just wants to learn alongside his future family. He will simply ask for a bit of patience to take the time to get to know him. He will thank you with cuddles and become your inseparable best friend. Very energetic, he will need to burn off energy daily. But he also knows how to relax and stay calm! We will prefer homes with young children and without other animals for now to allow Marley to settle in peace. This little dog also has difficulty with loneliness, requiring adopters who are present in the beginning. Our Marley will need to work on his socialization with other dogs of the same species. He has not been exposed to other dogs and is now rather aggressive towards them. But we will never say enough that with work and patience, everything is possible! About Marley

What life with Marley looks like

Marley is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Le refuge du Penthièvre et du Méné in France.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Marley, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Marley?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Le refuge du Penthièvre et du Méné handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Marley on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Marley if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Le refuge du Penthièvre et du Méné will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Marley already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Marley isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Le refuge du Penthièvre et du Méné early rather than rehoming privately; they know Marley and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
