Marlo is looking for a home 💚 Meet Marlo 🐾 MARLO - A LITTLE HEARTBREAKER WITH FLOPPY EARS LOOKING FOR HIS FOREVER HAPPINESS! Three little brothers, a sad start to life and a huge dose of hope! Our Marlo is ready to finally write his own love story. Hand on heart: can you resist these beautiful brown eyes and those sugary floppy ears? We certainly can't! But before our Marlo could grow into this handsome young dog, he had to go through a lot. Together with his brothers Jako and Masty, he was abandoned as a tiny puppy in front of our animal lover Sergej's house in Bosnia. The three were just a few weeks old. Too small to cope on their own, and on top of that, they had injuries on their heads. They were probably attacked by a bird of prey or a chicken. Three little puppies who actually needed the security of their mother. But fortunately, the brothers landed right on the right doorstep! Because that's where Sergej lived, a person with a huge heart for the forgotten souls of Bosnia. He took the three little worries in, treated their injuries and nursed them back to health with lots of love and patience. And today? Today there is a beautiful little Marlo, who will hopefully soon conquer the hearts of his own people! With his current 40 cm, Marlo is currently the smallest in the brother trio. While brother Masty has already shot up quite a bit, Marlo seems to have thought: "Why grow up when you can also stay on eye level with people's hearts?" Although we don't know yet how big our little man will be. After all, he's still in the middle of growing! With his shiny black fur, his beautiful eyes and those lovely floppy ears, Marlo certainly has everything he needs to be a real heartbreaker.

About Marlo

What life with Marlo looks like

Marlo is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at APAL Finikas (Kreta) in Greece.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Marlo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Marlo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. APAL Finikas (Kreta) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Marlo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Marlo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — APAL Finikas (Kreta) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Marlo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Marlo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with APAL Finikas (Kreta) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Marlo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
