Mars

Mixed Breed · Male

MARS IS LOOKING FOR A HOME! Mars is a male cat born in the summer of 2019, whose mother was a colony cat. His life started outdoors, and in the fall he was taken to a foster home along with other kittens from the same colony. Fortunately, there was a caretaker for the colony, so the kittens didn't have to suffer from an empty stomach, although their food at that time was leftovers from people. As a street cat, Mars doesn't particularly trust people. He isn't mean, but he tends to back away if a person becomes too active when trying to interact with him. However, he gets along very well with the other cats at the foster home or his sister Moon. Mars is a popular boy, he has many nice cat friends. Mars is curious, as when something good to eat is offered between the fingers, he comes sniffing and licks the food. Because he came to us from a complicated situation, all his small teeth have been removed, only the molars remain, but this does not interfere with his life or eating (and also doesn't prevent him from looking at a person's finger if there is no food between it). At the foster home, he lives together with many cats and one small, calm dog, and gets along well with all of them. Experience has shown that if a tame cat ends up in a new home, sooner or later he will start interacting with people, since he needs friends, but there are no other cats. This little cat will certainly become a great companion, it just requires some time and patience. He is very easily motivated by treats - if you give him liquid treat, he starts licking happily and you can play with him for a long time with the other hand. And as a very curious kitten, he always peeks behind every closed door to see what's going on and what people are doing. By the way, Mars got his name because of his former bravado. Street cats tend to have parasites, and at first it was necessary to give them medicine. He was especially resistant to any kind of treatment and showed particular talent in avoiding the person who gave the medicine. Unfortunately, despite his attempts to avoid it, the medicines were given and his health is now fine. The kitten has regularly received parasite treatment, is neutered and has a collar and personal passport. Mars is actually completely ready to go to the best home in the world. If you cannot offer Mars a home, it would be a great help if you could share Mars' story.

Mars on populaarne poiss, tal on palju toredaid kass-sõpru.

About Mars

What life with Mars looks like

Mars is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Pesaleidja MTÜ in Pesaleidja.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mars, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mars?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pesaleidja MTÜ handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mars on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mars if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pesaleidja MTÜ will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mars already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mars isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pesaleidja MTÜ early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mars and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ET). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
