Marta Name: Marta Birth: 01/2026 Gender: Female Breed: Malinois-Mix Size/Weight: Approx. 54 cm Location: Mònica Foster Home October 2026 – Our beautiful Marta was thrown over the animal shelter fence. Apparently, she had an accident a few days earlier, as her jaw was broken and her left front leg seemed paralyzed due to a radial nerve paralysis. Marta was operated on her jaw the next day. A few days later, she came to Mònica for foster care. I have been taking care of Marta since mid-June and have been tirelessly working with her on rehabilitation for almost three months. During this time, she was fully vaccinated and spayed. Even the wire to stabilize her jaw has been removed. Today, she is a healthy and cheerful girl, but will remain lame. I do not want to have her front leg amputated, as she has sensitivity about six centimeters below the elbow. With proper care, she can walk relatively well. Theoretically, there is still a possibility that the radial nerve regenerates, but we hardly hope for it anymore. During her foster care, Marta was housed with a veterinarian and a physiotherapist for a week each. She accompanied both to work by metro and stayed there until the end of the day. She rides in the car with me and also likes to accompany me to the animal shelter. She knows both the forest and the city. She just does everything … Marta has many fans with us. She is obedient, playful, affectionate, very sweet, cheerful, and extraordinarily beautiful. Although she is lame, she is ready for the journey to her new life. We are looking for a dog-experienced family who wants to spend many beautiful years with her. We could write a lot more about Marta's story since June 3. If anyone wants to learn more about our sweet girl, please send an email. Thank you!

Danke!

About Marta

What life with Marta looks like

Marta is a puppy belgian malinois dog waiting at Tierschutzengel Nordhorn in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Marta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Marta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzengel Nordhorn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Marta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Marta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzengel Nordhorn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Marta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Marta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzengel Nordhorn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Marta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
