Marte

Belgian Malinois · Male · Young · 1 year

Marte – urgently looking for his permanent home Marte arrived at the Spanish shelter in October 2025 at only four months of age. He spent a particularly important phase of his young life not in a loving home, but in the noisy, often overwhelming daily routine of a shelter. It is all the more beautiful that he was able to temporarily move to a foster home in Spain a few months ago. There, Marte could finally experience what a structured daily routine, social contacts and individual attention mean. This opportunity did him a lot of good. Marte currently lives harmoniously with many other dogs - big and small, males and females. He is sociable, easygoing and well integrated into the existing pack. Overall, Marte is a cheerful, playful and sociable young dog who has developed very well in his foster home. Marte is a Belgian Malinois mix. This breed usually brings a lot of intelligence, sensitivity, willingness to learn and above all a high need for physical and mental stimulation. A Belgian Malinois needs tasks, clear leadership and people who enjoy actively working with their dog. Even though Marte is still young and playful, the decision to take him should be carefully considered. Especially young dogs and particularly hardworking breeds mean responsibility, time and consistent support over many years. Time is running out for Marte, because his current foster home is unfortunately only a temporary solution. If no home or another foster home is found for him, Marte risks returning to the shelter. For a young dog in his developmental phase, this would be a major setback. Therefore, we are urgently looking for people who can offer Marte a permanent place - whether as a foster home or, even better, as a permanent home. People who are ready to physically and mentally challenge him, provide him with security and structure, and continue to accompany him on his way. Anyone who is aware of this task will get a young, lively and very socially compatible dog who still has his whole life ahead of him. About Marte

What life with Marte looks like

Marte is a large young adult belgian malinois dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Marte, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Marte?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Marte on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Marte if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Marte already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Marte isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Marte and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
