adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Marty has been locally rehomed! His story: Is there no perfect furry companion? Indeed, here comes Marty! Absolutely charming, balanced, loving, and simply beautiful – that’s how the approximately 4-year-old Marty can be described. These words are not just thrown around, but are the enthusiastic verdict of his Romanian foster mother. There, Marty has lived since puppyhood and had the wonderful privilege of being raised with care, unlike many other strays. Thus, he not only got to know domestic situations and enjoy some training, but was also well socialized in dealing with two- and four-legged beings. Marty knows cats and also reacts to children with a calm bear-like demeanor. Marty has a mild arthrosis in his right shoulder, which can be well managed with food supplements and, if necessary, pain medication. The handsome Marty is about 60 cm tall and weighs 40 kg. Clearly, he is a mix of a herding dog, which is confirmed not only by his appearance but also by his human-oriented and extremely gentle nature. But also for a high intelligence, an active nature, and a possibly innate protective mentality, this breed is known. For our friendly young pup, who is just emerging from puberty, we are looking for confident, empathetic people who value herding dogs, understand them, and can appropriately challenge them. Marty has already learned a lot, especially walking on a leash is already quite neat. However, one must not forget that he is moving into a completely new world that differs significantly from his previous one. Therefore, there are surely many exciting discoveries and instructive moments ahead of him. A fenced property in a more rural setting would offer our four-legged friend the perfect home for independent exploration tours and extensive sniffing adventures. A close family connection, regular adventures, perhaps in a qualified dog training class, and plenty of cuddle time would round out his well-being perfectly. Stand: 23.06. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Stand: 23.06.2025

About Marty

What life with Marty looks like

Marty is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Marty, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Marty?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Marty on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Marty if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Marty already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Marty isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Marty and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
