adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! Peace at last, you gentle giant… His story: Baia Mare, Romania A noose around his neck and it slowly chokes you… That must have been the feeling our Marvin endured for weeks or perhaps even years. Marvin was searched for by Paul for several weeks, as he was in a terrible condition due to his neck injury. Due to his early shy nature, many attempts at securing him were unsuccessful, and he was repeatedly posted on local social media. Eventually, Marvin was so weakened that he could no longer stand, which saved his life. Paul brought him to the vet immediately, where Marvin was in such a critical condition that he was barely alive, and the impossible was made possible. He survived and is now recovering from the tortures in Paul's Shelter. Although we don't know exactly what his previous life was like, his neck clearly shows that it was not marked by positive experiences with humans. With much love and care, Paul has managed to regain Marvin's trust in people. Now, Marvin is happy for human contact and actively requests cuddles, while wagging his tail joyfully. He also gets along well with other dogs. Now it's our turn to write a new future for Marvin and we want to do that here. At around 70 cm, he is a large male dog and still very thin. He is estimated to be 8 years old, yet he still wants to learn a full new life. Due to his appearance, we suspect herding dog protection genes. Due to this, we are looking for adopters experienced with herding dogs, preferably those already familiar with herding dogs, and who have an ebenerdig home in a rural area. It would be wonderful for Marvin if his new people could provide him with an enclosed yard where he can move freely and be watched over. Of course, it would be perfect if we could find a forever home for the lovable male dog right away, but even a foster home as a starting point for a new, better life would greatly help Marvin. Contact us if you are in love with Marvin. He travels microchipped, neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated with an EU pet passport to his new home. Marvin will be placed after a positive match. Many thanks to Tatjana H.! You support Marvin with a monthly sponsorship!

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Ruhe in Frieden, du sanfter Riese… Vielen Dank an Tatjana H.! Du unterstützt Marvin mit einer monatlichen Patenschaft!

About Marvin

What life with Marvin looks like

Marvin is a extra-large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Marvin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Marvin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Marvin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Marvin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Marvin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Marvin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Marvin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
