Adopt Mary

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

♀, born ca. 2023, zutraulich-freundlich-verschmustin Mary is a ca. 2023 Sharpei-Mix-female dog with a shoulder height of ca. 55 cm. Mary was found on an abandoned property with her four freshly born puppies. The cooing of the little ones was not to be missed. To ensure the puppies did not freeze in the snow and to keep Mary safe from the dangers of the street, our Bulgarian animal rescuer brought the whole family to safety. Mary, known on-site as Molly, is a genuinely warm, lively, and open female dog. She is not afraid of people, snuggles up, enjoys every scratch and pet, and seems to be smiling while doing so. One can see that she genuinely rejoices every time. The dog training basics still need to be learned by Mary: wearing a collar, which is already being practiced and which she wears very confidently: walking on a leash, house training, and being alone – all new for Mary. With patience, calmness, and positive training, she will learn these quickly. We do not wish for this lovable female dog a life in the city center. She is not just a flat-dwelling dog either. A garden would be nice to have, especially with active people who go for many walks. Mary would like to be everywhere – she would even like to come to the office, because waiting alone all day is not for her. An ideal social only dog, with which she can orient herself, would be perfect. Mary is vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered. The conducted Snap-4-D test revealed an early stage of Anaplasmosis. Treatment was started immediately, and Mary is doing great and shows no symptoms. She will be neutered after the end of the therapy. She is in an intake station in Sofia/Bulgaria. The adoption fee for Mary is 460 Euro. Do you have a suitable home for Mary? Then please contact us via the following contact form. ©2022 by Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. Created with Wix.

About Mary

What life with Mary looks like

Mary is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. in Berlin.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mary, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mary?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mary on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mary if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mary already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mary isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mary and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
