Adopt Marylin

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 12 years

At 12 years old, Marylin is a lovely black and white cat with a small elegant mark that gives her a subtle charm. She is calm and sensitive, a very gentle cat. A bit shy at first, she needs time to feel confident... but once reassured, she reveals a very affectionate and endearing side. ❤️ We are looking for a quiet environment without young children where Marylin can develop at her own pace. Curious and independent, Marylin also enjoys going out for walks and enjoying the outdoors.

About Marylin

What life with Marylin looks like

Marylin is a senior mixed breed cat waiting at Ligue Vaudoise pour la Défense des Animaux — La Maison des Chats in Switzerland.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Marylin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Marylin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ligue Vaudoise pour la Défense des Animaux — La Maison des Chats handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Marylin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Marylin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ligue Vaudoise pour la Défense des Animaux — La Maison des Chats will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Marylin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Marylin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ligue Vaudoise pour la Défense des Animaux — La Maison des Chats early rather than rehoming privately; they know Marylin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
