Matei (m)

Mixed Breed · Male

This wonderful male dog is named MATEI. Born in 2022, he has lived in the private animal shelter of the ADOR association in Botoșani since his puppyhood. And although he is such a special dog, he has never been seen all these years. Perhaps because of his color. Perhaps because of his size. Perhaps simply because there are so many dogs in the shelter fighting for attention. Our German animal welfare colleague was on site again for several days – with the wish to find exactly these long-term dogs, the quiet souls. The dogs that never stand out, even though they have so much to offer. The pearls that spend their lives in shelters without ever getting a chance. And MATEI is exactly such a pearl. MATEI is an absolute dream dog. He carries himself with confidence. He is calm, gentle, and incredibly cuddly. When someone enters his pen – whether familiar or unfamiliar – he simply waits patiently for someone to come to him. For someone to finally see him. And as soon as someone strokes him, he leans into it, closes his eyes, and simply enjoys this moment of closeness. A sight that truly brings tears to the eyes. MATEI is about 50 cm shoulder height and would be ready at any time for his journey to happiness. We can also introduce him to people who have not had a dog before and who would like a more calm, balanced companion. Please help MATEI to finally be seen. He has waited his whole life. Maybe he is waiting exactly for you. Contact us if you are interested or share this post so that MATEI finally finds his family. MATEI is neutered, multi-vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and of course in possession of an EU passport. Contact: MATEI will be rehomed by Casa Katharina e.V. – with The association naturally has the §11 (Animal Welfare Act) in place. Even after adoption, we will continue to support you – for both human and animal. MATEI will travel to Germany and arrive in 91278 Pottenstein, where he is also to be picked up.

About Matei (m)

What life with Matei (m) looks like

Matei (m) is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. in Nürnberg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Matei (m), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Matei (m)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Matei (m) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Matei (m) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Matei (m) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Matei (m) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Matei (m) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
