Mats

adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Mats has found a new home! His story: Mats no longer understands the world. A few weeks ago, his world was still in order. Then his Frauchen passed away. His son then gave the dog to the shelter because he can no longer take care of Mats. Now, Mats sits in the noisy shelter with limited space, waiting for a new start. Good fortune in misfortune, at least he was not abandoned. Mats, who was previously named Sefu, is ready to shed his past, including his first name, and begin anew with a new name. As long as he doesn't have to stay in the shelter. The cute little guy with a loyal gaze and an extremely interesting face pattern is a real looker. Mats is super-friendly and loves people. Dogs and cats have not been tested yet. Who has a dog bed free and is looking for a dog who has already passed the puppy stage and only occasionally has pubertal tendencies, but is still young and dynamic? Then you are exactly right for Mats. Mats wishes for a loving family with whom he can snuggle extensively, because after all, he has his whole life ahead of him. With his approximate height of 50 cm, he has a nice, medium size. Even though he already knows life in the house, Mats should be given plenty of time to settle in. Mats looks forward to many adventures in nature, attending dog training classes, and lots of attention and love. He would also be happy to do some head work to keep himself from getting bored. Mats is believed to have had an accident as a young dog. His left hind leg grew back incorrectly after a fracture. As a result, he walks a bit unevenly, but he uses his leg fully and has no limitations. He was x-rayed, and both veterinarians advised against surgery, as he would not benefit from it. Mats is always ready. He travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, treated for fleas, and dewormed. Against an adoption fee of 500 Euros, he can be adopted. Mats would also be very happy to have a foster home. Thank you, Mila! You gave Mats a second chance with your namingsponsorship. Status: 04.08. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

Stand: 04.08.2024

About Mats

What life with Mats looks like

Mats is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mats, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mats?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mats on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mats if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mats already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mats isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mats and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
