adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Mattilda has found its home! Her story: "Labrador" in Dachshund form is looking for a cozy dog bed!😉 This little, black beauty is on the hunt for her people. Mattilda was rescued from the kill shelter in Zalau and shows herself to be a small, balanced female dog. At 29 cm and 10 kg, she has the perfect size to be everywhere. In some way, Mattilda reminds us of a Labrador in Dachshund form. She is curious, loves being near people, and enjoys cuddling to the fullest. On the leash, she already runs very well. Whether Mattilda is already familiar with life in the house, we do not know, but with lots of love and patience, she will quickly settle in. She gets along well with other dogs, but whether that also applies to cats, we cannot say. Mattilda has already left the children's stage and puberty behind and can now really start off with her young two years. What breeds are really in the black beauty with the amber eyes will probably remain her little secret. But we know that Mattilda longs for love and security, looks forward to many beautiful adventures in nature, and maybe also the visit of a dog training class. Mattilda is already sitting on her packed suitcase and can start her big journey at any time. She travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. Also, her EU pet passport is already at hand. Adoption requirements: Stand: 19.09. But also a foster home would be a good start to a happy future. Many thanks, Nicole! With your name sponsorship, you have made Mattilda's path to a happy future free. Stand: 19.09.

About Mattilda

What life with Mattilda looks like

Mattilda is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mattilda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mattilda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mattilda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mattilda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mattilda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mattilda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mattilda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
