Matze

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal!Matze has found his happiness quickly! His story: Matze is already waiting in a foster home in Germany for his family. Matze is playful, open, active, and quite wiggly. With Matze, the name game is on: he loves to run around, dig, and experience adventures with the other dogs. The little guy is 4 months old and stands about 20 cm at the shoulder and weighs around 3 kilos. But, as with all puppies, one should not be deceived by their sweet looks: Matze brings not only cute paws but also a fair amount of chaos into life. House training, being alone, going on walks, car rides, environmental stimuli – he is still unfamiliar with all of these and needs them shown to him with patience and time. Especially recommended is a visit to a positively working dog training class, where Matze can not only learn the dog ABCs but also how to interact with other dogs and people. Puberty will also not pass by without a trace in Matze – he will test boundaries, loudly express his opinion, and sometimes act as if he has never heard of "sit," "stay," or "no." During this phase, he needs loving consequences, calmness, and people who understand and guide his development with patience, while also forgiving the occasional mishap. Matze is clever and curious – a good combination to keep him mentally and physically stimulated in a meaningful and species-appropriate way. Whether small games in the garden, joint training, or perhaps even a dog sport like mantrailing or hoop jumping: the main thing is that he can participate and receive mental and physical stimulation. Matze is looking for a home that is ready for a mix of puppy chaos, cuddly moments, learning moments, and great joy. Whoever shows him how wonderful the world can be gets a loyal companion for life. Matze is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and brings an EU pet passport with him and can be shipped after a positive our area! Thank you, Claudia! You named him Matze. Date: 01.05.

Vielen Dank an Claudia! Du hast Matze ihren Namen geschenkt. Stand: 01.05.2025

About Matze

What life with Matze looks like

Matze is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Matze, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Matze?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Matze on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Matze if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Matze already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Matze isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Matze and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
