Adoption Requirements Adoption Process Request this Animal Now! Adoption Requirements Adoption Process Request this Dog Now! Mauro has found his forever home! His Story: Mauro is currently living with our animal welfare volunteer Ana in Bistrița, where he’s waiting for his big chance. Yet his life could have taken a very different turn. Together with another male dog, Mauro was abandoned on the outskirts of a village. The two dogs stayed near some houses, probably hoping for help. Unfortunately, stray dogs are all too often unwelcome in many places. Day after day, they lived by the roadside, completely exposed to people and traffic. The road there is heavily trafficked, and dogs are repeatedly hit by cars. Ana herself has already had to rescue a dog with a severely injured leg at exactly this spot. Fortunately, Mauro was spotted in time and brought to safety. Today, Mauro proves to be an absolutely lovable little guy. He’s friendly, open, and greets people with great joy. He absolutely loves attention, and it quickly becomes clear that he just loves being around others. At the same time, he brings plenty of energy and is up for any kind of fun. As a typical young dog, he wants to explore the world, play, and experience things together with his people. Add to that his fluffy coat, which makes him look like a little teddy bear on four paws. A real fluffball who wins hearts in no time. Mauro gets along well with other dogs and is already familiar with cats. This means he has many of the right qualities to settle happily into a new home. Although Mauro is now about one year old and no longer a puppy, he’s still a young dog with lots of developmental stages ahead of him. His puberty isn’t yet fully complete, and of course there will be phases when he questions rules or tests boundaries. Since Mauro hasn’t yet lived in his own home, you should also expect that house training, leash manners, being left alone, and many everyday routines still need to be learned. Moving always means stress and lots of new impressions. Therefore, his future people should be patient and ready to guide him step by step into his new life. Attending a positively oriented dog school can be a helpful support here, helping both of you build trust and grow together as a team. For Mauro, we’re looking for people who are excited about a cheerful, active, and cuddly companion and who can finally give him the security he’s never had before. Mauro travels neutered, chipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated, accompanied by his EU pet passport, to his new home. After a positive preliminary check, he can be rehomed against a protection fee. Who will fall in love with this fluffy little happy-go-lucky dog and finally give him his own home? Many thanks to our sponsor Ute P., who gave Mauro his name and thus enabled him to have a chance at a new life. 16 June 2026 Further information on the topics of preliminary check and protection fee

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Mauro

What life with Mauro looks like

Mauro is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mauro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mauro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mauro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mauro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mauro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mauro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mauro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
