Mausi

Female · Senior · 10 years

I’m Mausi, a very sweet and loving dog looking for a loving home for my golden years. Here’s what I’m like: I was taken into care for animal welfare reasons; I’m people-oriented, enjoy being close to my favorite humans, and love cozy, age-appropriate walks. I’m a calm dog and let myself be calmly passed by other dogs without any stress. I also love playing with food toys and prefer spending my time with my people. Whether I can stay alone for short periods is still uncertain and would need to be patiently practiced if necessary. Due to my age, I have some health issues. I have severe spondylosis and moderate knee osteoarthritis. Therefore, it would be best if my new home had level floors and no more stairs for me to climb. Additionally, I’m hard of hearing, but with a little consideration, I manage just fine. I’d love to find a loving home with people who want to give an older dog many more happy years. Ideally, my new home would have level floors. Quiet, age-appropriate walks are perfect for me—I no longer need to perform athletic feats. What matters most to me is spending quality time together, feeling safe and secure, and having a cozy spot to relax. Understandable children are welcome in the household. A compatible dog already living in the home would also be no problem. If you’d like to give a lovable senior with a big heart another wonderful home, I’d be delighted to meet you. Please get in touch via the inquiry form below or at the Lassie House (open Monday to Friday from 1 pm to 4 pm, except Saturdays).

About Mausi

What life with Mausi looks like

Mausi is a medium-sized senior dog waiting at Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg in Berlin.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mausi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mausi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mausi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mausi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mausi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mausi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mausi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
