Adopt Mauzer

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

Mauzer, a dog born in August 2016. Mauzer is a trouble-free, steady dog. Despite his age, he holds up very well, has a good appetite, and is quite active. He may not have as much strength as he did a few years ago, but after a run, he still eagerly runs around. From the beginning of his stay with us, he hasn't caused any problems and has shown himself to be a truly docile and gentle dog who values any company. The worst for him is when his caregivers disappear from his sight and he is left alone. He whines and moans for a while until he accepts the situation. It's clear that he is sociable and that he struggles a bit with loneliness. He doesn't destroy his kennel, but he tries to escape by scratching at the floor of the kennel. He is very much dependent on both human contact and the opportunity to release his energy on a spacious run. He feels exceptionally good there and even gets along well with other dogs, with which he has not yet had any conflicts. Of course, it would be best for Mauzer if he could live in a warm house with the possibility of going out into the yard and not spend the winter in the animal shelter. Especially senior dogs do not take the cold very well and like to warm up in a warm bed. In addition to being very well behaved on a leash, Mauzer will not cause any problems for his new owner to go for longer walks. He leads his caregivers forward and is really eager to have his collar put on. We know that little dog isn't the smallest, as he weighs over 19 kilograms and although he could still gain a couple of pounds, he arrived with a slight underweight and also has his years. But such dogs are precisely the most grateful for being given a home and become excellent members of the family. Truly, Mauzer deserves a new life by the side of a caring owner, so we highly recommend considering the adoption of this adorable four-legged friend. Mauzer is microchipped, declawed, vaccinated, and neutered.

Mauzer, pies urodzony w sierpniu 2016r. Mauzer to niekłopotliwy, stateczny psiak. On sam prowadzi swoich opiekunów do przodu i naprawdę chętnie daje sobie zakładać obrożę ze smyczą.

About Mauzer

What life with Mauzer looks like

Mauzer is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) in Poland.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mauzer, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mauzer?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mauzer on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mauzer if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mauzer already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mauzer isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mauzer and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
