Mave

Mixed Breed · Female

Mave - now her own happiness is about to begin Mave is a very special dog. A loving mother who has selflessly cared for her babies and given them a good start in life. Now it's time for Mave to start a new chapter - one where she can be the center of attention. Mave is a friendly and loving dog. She loves people and is also kind and affectionate with children. She is also compatible and social with other dogs. Mave is the mother of Hanni, Nanni, Berta, Bobby, Bonnie, Lily and Emely. She has lovingly raised her little ones and given them everything a good mother can give. Now we wish for people who can give her just as much love in return. Mave still needs a little patience, because her babies are still dependent on her. From October she can then set off on the journey to her own home. Update: She is allowed to travel! We wish Mave a loving, active home with people who like to be outdoors and discover the world with her. Maybe her human is waiting for her somewhere - and Mave's own happiness can finally begin.

About Mave

What life with Mave looks like

Mave is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hundenothilfe-OWL e.V. in Bielefeld.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mave, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mave?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundenothilfe-OWL e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mave on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mave if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundenothilfe-OWL e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Mave already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mave isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundenothilfe-OWL e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mave and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
