Maverick

Mixed Breed Cat · Male · Young · 1 year

Maverick is looking for an indoor only home with his sibling, River. They are looking for a home where they are the only pets, and could go with children ages 16+. They will need a quiet room to start with where they can settle. Maverick is a shy boy who loves treats, and once he's comfortable with you he has plenty of love to give. This sweet and quiet pair are looking for their forever home together. They can initially be quite shy and will need a quiet room to settle into before they can explore the whole home. They would prefer to be the only pets in the home and could go with older kids, but will need a calm and patient family who can give them the time and space they need to settle in and really let their personalities shine.

About Maverick

What life with Maverick looks like

Maverick is a young adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at RSPCA Woodside in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maverick, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maverick?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Woodside handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maverick on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maverick if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Woodside will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Maverick already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maverick isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Woodside early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maverick and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
