Adopt Max

Ref. No.: w-preveza-max-m-0821 Update August 2024: It is so tragic, 3 years have passed and no one is interested in our Max... Max loves treats, cuddles, and giving kisses. He knows the command "Sit" and waits patiently for his treat. In early summer, Max went for a walk on the beach and traveled well in the car. Here is a wonderful dog waiting for his chance! Max currently weighs 42kg. Update June 2023: Another year has gone by and Max is still waiting for his chance! Max is a real cheerful soul, he enjoys going for walks and now walks quite well on a leash. Max is our Kasper - a good-natured, sporty young dog. He shares his enclosure with 2 female dogs, but unfortunately, he has not been compatible with male dogs so far. Update June 2022: Sadly, Max is still waiting for his family - it is always very sad when young dogs grow up in an animal shelter and not in a loving family :( Currently, Max is about 57cm tall and weighs around 30kg. He shares an enclosure with Sora, and the two get along well! August 2021: Annabella & Max come from Preveza on the mainland. The dogs are usually cared for on the streets by animal welfare workers, and we support them as much as possible, taking in dogs to the animal shelter from time to time. The two rascals are playful and happy, typical of puppies. They are expected to be of a larger size. We look forward to loving potential adopters! All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, and have an EU pet passport.

20250706 03 Max Juli 2025 20250706 02 Max Juli 2025

About Max

What life with Max looks like

Max is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. in Ratingen.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Max, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Max?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Max on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Max if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Max already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Max isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Max and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
