He is the sweetest soul who really does deserve the best retirement home.πŸ™πŸΌ Max came in and went straight in to foster where he settled in immediately. He greets everyone like a long lost friend in true staffie style!β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή This lad has been great with everyone he has met. He is good with dogs and dog savvy children. He’s even possibly cat trainable!🐢 Max is 11 years old, however no one has told him this! He loves his walks and meeting all his new fans. Everyone who meet this lads loves him instantly … how could you not.😍 He has been the perfect houseguest too. Max happily sleeps in his bed and is house clean. He’s even been ok for a a while on his own.πŸ₯° This lad walks well on lead and likes going in the car too. He really enjoys his food which is good as he needs to gain back some muscle and condition.πŸ‘Œ At the vets, he was good lad. He has passed a healthcheck, started his vaccinations and been flead and wormed. Once he has gaind condition he will be neutered, have a dental and remove a little growth by his lip, which the vet wasn’t concerned about. βœ”οΈ Please do share this lovely gent so he can finally have the retirement lifestyle he deserves!πŸ™πŸΌ Remember to complete the form below if you’re interested in adoption;

About Max

What life with Max looks like

Max is a senior staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Almost Home Dog Rescue in North Wales.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Max, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Max?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Almost Home Dog Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Max on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Max if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Almost Home Dog Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Max already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Max isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Almost Home Dog Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Max and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
