Max und Moritz

European Shorthair · Male

Max and Moritz are looking for their forever home together Max and Moritz came to us from a seizure and now they are looking for a loving home where they can finally arrive. The two give each other security and should therefore only be placed together. Max, the white cat, is the bolder and more active of the two! He loves playing games, seeks the closeness of his humans and enjoys extensive cuddling. He prefers to lie right next to his humans and be stroked. Moritz, the black cat, is the more quiet and sensitive of the two. He needs his time to gain trust. But once you have won his heart, he is ready for every cuddle session, especially he loves belly rubs. However, he is simultaneously startled by loud noises or hectic movements and can then become very uncertain. We wish for the two people who will give them enough attention and always be open to small game sessions. Max's favorite toy is a small laser pointer. A secured balcony, terrace or an escape-proof garden should be available, as the two love to lie on their cat balconies on warm days. Outdoor access is not planned for the two. Children should be at least ten to twelve years old for Moritz's sensitive character and understand that cats also need their rest and also have boundaries. So if you are looking for two affectionate and lovable cats and are also willing to give Moritz the necessary time to arrive, you will find two wonderful companions for life with the two. The two are neutered, microchipped, negative for FIV and FeLV and vaccinated when leaving.

About Max und Moritz

What life with Max und Moritz looks like

Max und Moritz is a small adult european shorthair cat waiting at Straßenkatzen Köln e.V. in Köln.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Max und Moritz, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Max und Moritz?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Straßenkatzen Köln e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Max und Moritz on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Max und Moritz if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Straßenkatzen Köln e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Max und Moritz already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Max und Moritz isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Straßenkatzen Köln e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Max und Moritz and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
