MAXI

British Shorthair · Male · Adult · 8 years

Tommy and MAXI had to leave their previous home because their owner had to move into a care home. Tommy, a Siamese mix, was born on August 9, 2014. MAXI, a British Shorthair tomcat, was born on July 15, 2017. Both are neutered and are now searching for a quiet home where they can take the time they need to build trust. Tommy and MAXI wish for a very quiet home with patient people who can understand their insecurity. Hectic and busy environments overwhelm the two at the moment, so older, understanding children are not recommended until around 15 to 16 years old. Both toms are currently very shy and anxious. At the animal shelter, there is currently little direct contact possible, as they withdraw significantly and are still very insecure around people. Therefore, they need people who do not expect quick progress and who give them the opportunity to acclimate at their own pace. After a successful acclimation, Tommy and MAXI become people-oriented and cuddly. Their playful and temperamental side also comes to the fore. Those who give them the necessary time will be rewarded with two loyal companions who can form a close bond with their trusted people. The two are compatible with other animals. We can also envision their cohabitation with quiet, cat-experienced dogs after a careful acclimation. For Tommy and MAXI, we are searching for a home suitable for apartment living with a well-secured, cat-safe netted balcony. MAXI especially seems to enjoy spending time outdoors and would greatly appreciate a balcony. Tommy has knee arthrosis. For more information about his health condition and possible treatment options, please contact the responsible caregivers. Additionally, both Tommy and MAXI still need dental work.

-0Fax: 089/90 73 20E-Mail

About MAXI

What life with MAXI looks like

MAXI is a adult british shorthair cat waiting at Tierschutzverein München.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting MAXI, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about MAXI?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein München handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw MAXI on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt MAXI if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein München will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is MAXI already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if MAXI isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein München early rather than rehoming privately; they know MAXI and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
