Maxl

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Maxl is a handsome boy! Athletic, slender, high-legged, black, with a gray-white triangle on his nose, white chest, white boots with black dots and a white tail tip. His fur is short and very soft. It's a nice feeling to pet him and he likes it very much. His foster mom says he's a chameleon, because with his calm and composed nature he wraps everyone around his finger. Before he does something, he looks like a thinker, clever indeed. He already listens very well to his name, but he also likes Mäxchen. He prefers to play with his siblings indoors or outdoors in the garden. Maxl is still a small, naive and sweet puppy, but soon the time will come when everything will be turned upside down and the guy will probably not be quite right in his mind sometimes: puberty! That will put a strain on so many nerves. A pupertier is sometimes very insecure and also questions some of the boundaries that have already been accepted. Sometimes a challenging time for both the dog and the human. With positive reinforcement, patience and empathy, you can overcome this life phase without damage and emerge stronger from it. A dog school that works with positive reinforcement is also highly recommended, as there is so much new to learn for both dog and human. Together. Our little philosopher has both hunting dog and herding dog in his genes. Therefore, you should already be familiar with the breed-specific characteristics or be willing to deal with them. For his luck, we are looking for a home for Maxl in the countryside or in the suburbs, with a fenced garden or yard. The little one would not say no to a confident first dog and playmate. A foster home would also be a great stepping stone into Maxl's own philosophical life! Maxl moves into his new home vaccinated, chipped, dewormed and flea-free. He brings his EU pet passport with him. After a positive preliminary check and a deposit, your life together can start. Thank you to Ulrike G., you gave Maxl his name and thus an identity! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! About Maxl

What life with Maxl looks like

Maxl is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maxl, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maxl?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maxl on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maxl if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maxl already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maxl isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maxl and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
