Adopt Maxymilian

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

Maxymilian (P-6707/26), a dog arrived at the animal shelter on 27.01.2026 from Dolistowska Street. This is a large, strong dog in the Labrador type, who definitely makes an impression with his posture and energy. He is positively oriented towards people, but during the first contact, he gets excited and jumps on people. Maks reacts differently to other dogs - sometimes he is calm, but sometimes he can start fights. This requires further work to teach him better communication with other dogs. A big plus is that he does not react to public movement, which makes walks in an urban environment easier. And walks are definitely his element - especially when he can collect sticks (and not just any sticks - the bigger, the better). It's funny, but it will also require work to develop his focus on the owner. He knows the basic commands "sit" and "shake", which shows that he has potential for further learning and cooperation with humans. Like every dog, he likes to feel the affection of the caregiver - a pat, a hug. Maxymilian is a young dog with great potential, who, with appropriate guidance, support, consistency and love, will become a wonderful companion. It is very important that the future owner is ready to work on his emotions. Maks needs a home that will provide him not only with exercise, but also time, patience and commitment. After being spayed, he will be ready for adoption." *The above description was created based on observations of the dog's behavior in the animal shelter. It should be noted that the dog's behavior may change after adoption.

Maxymilian (P-6707/26), pies trafił do Schroniska dn. 27.01.2026r. z ul.

About Maxymilian

What life with Maxymilian looks like

Maxymilian is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Bialystok in Białystok.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maxymilian, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maxymilian?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Bialystok handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maxymilian on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maxymilian if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Bialystok will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maxymilian already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maxymilian isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Bialystok early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maxymilian and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
