Maya (born 2017) came to us because her previous owner could no longer care for her adequately due to age-related reasons. When she arrived at our shelter, she was quite overweight and her claws were much too long – but she has developed wonderfully since then. Still, one can see that Maya needs time to build trust. With her trusted people, she shows herself cautiously affectionate and now enjoys cuddles. Once her heart is won, she gives great trust. Maya finds strangers in her home rather difficult and meets them initially with skepticism. Outside, however, she is friendly to neutral. She is generally compatible with other dogs but does not need doggy company to be happy. Currently, she lives with Charly at our shelter – a calm, sovereign only dog would be a possibility. The turbulent shelter life stresses Maya greatly, so we wish for her a quieter home where she can finally settle in. Due to her age, she should ideally not have to climb many stairs anymore – ground-floor living or an elevator would be ideal. A garden would be nice but is not a necessity. Maya is house-trained, can be left alone without issues, does not destroy anything, and walks nicely on a leash. She particularly enjoys relaxed walks in a quiet environment. For Maya, we are looking for people with patience and empathy who give her the time she needs – then she becomes a faithful and gentle companion for life.

Maya (geb. 2017) kam zu uns, weil ihr vorheriger Besitzer sich altersbedingt nicht mehr ausreichend um sie kümmern konnte. Als sie im Tierheim ankam, war sie stark übergewichtig und ihre Krallen viel zu lang – inzwischen hat sie sich aber schon toll entwickelt. Trotzdem merkt man Maya an, dass sie Zeit braucht, um Vertrauen zu fassen. Bei ihren Bezugspersonen zeigt sie sich vorsichtig liebevoll und genießt Streicheleinheiten inzwischen schon. Hat man einmal ihr Herz gewonnen, schenkt sie großes Vertrauen. Fremde Menschen in ihrem Zuhause findet Maya eher schwierig und begegnet ihnen zunächst skeptisch. Draußen zeigt sie sich dagegen freundlich bis neutral. Mit anderen Hunden ist sie grundsätzlich verträglich, braucht aber keine Hundegesellschaft, um glücklich zu sein. Aktuell lebt sie bei uns mit Charly zusammen – ein ruhiger, souveräner Ersthund wäre also durchaus denkbar. Der turbulente Tierheimalltag stresst Maya sehr, deshalb wünschen wir uns für sie ein eher ruhiges Zuhause, in dem sie endlich ankommen darf. Aufgrund ihres Alters sollte sie möglichst nicht mehr viele Treppen laufen müssen – ebenerdiges Wohnen oder ein Aufzug wären ideal. Ein Garten wäre schön, ist aber kein Muss. Maya ist stubenrein, kann problemlos alleine bleiben, macht nichts kaputt und läuft angenehm an der Leine. Besonders genießt sie entspannte Spaziergänge in ruhiger Umgebung. Für Maya suchen wir Menschen mit Geduld und Einfühlungsvermögen, die ihr die Zeit geben, die sie braucht – dann bekommt man eine treue und sanfte Begleiterin fürs Leben.
