adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Mayday has found her people! Her story: Ready to begin a new life? Mayday – a chance at a new life. This could be the first chapter of her new life, but before that could happen, she grew up in a yard with many other stray cats. She is a true survivalist, having been on her own since a young age, but that is now thankfully over. A wonderful woman had pity on her, because the residents of the property where the cats lived really wanted to poison her, but not only that, Mayday was chased and beaten in her attempt to find shelter in an apartment. She seemed unwanted, but the woman who had pity on her brought her to us. Here she was spayed and given the chance for a foster home, from which she now needs to find her family. Mayday is unique, hence her unique name. Her past life has shaped her, and she is now on the lookout for people where she can fit in and be content, preferably as a single princess. At her foster home, Mayday shows herself to be super playful, active, and independent with people, which is what one would expect from such a fighter. The company of people is highly valued by Mayday, but she still doesn't like cuddles. The presence of her people is absolutely fine for Mayday, but she has never been in contact with affection, so her new people should have time and understanding. Mayday has adapted to life in the apartment at her foster home, but in the future, she should have the opportunity to go on adventures. She would love to go in a rural or traffic-calmed area where she can also safely roam. During her travel arrangements, she is of course spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She was tested negative for FIV and FeLV and has an EU pet passport in her travel bag. Can your new life with this wonderful female cat start now? Thank you, Ute P., for giving Mayday her name! As of: 10.03.

Danke Ute P., du hast Mayday ihren Namen geschenkt! Stand: 10.03.2023

About Mayday

What life with Mayday looks like

Mayday is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mayday, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mayday?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mayday on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mayday if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mayday already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mayday isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mayday and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
