Adopt Mayla A

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 9 years

Profile: Born in 2022, Gender: female, neutered: yes, Temperament: friendly, calm, very well tolerated by other dogs, Size: approx. 43 cm, In shelter since: January 2024 Hello, my name is Mayla and I would like to introduce myself. I was born somewhere in the city streets. I learned to fend for myself early on. That's why I was very relieved when I arrived at the shelter. The people here are very nice and take care of hundreds like me. I get food and even have a roof over my head. Gently, the people here tried to get closer to me, and soon they earned my trust. Now I even enjoy being stroked. In my kennel, there are some other dogs, and they always talk excitedly about a car that sometimes takes some of us, a long journey, and a happy life in a far-off land. And then the unbelievable part: apparently, one lives with people who take care of you and love you. I am a very calm female dog, but the idea that someone loves me and lets me be part of the family also gives me hope and excitement. I am sure that if you lovingly guide me and help me, we will make a great team. A warm dog bed for me would be wonderful. Then I could snuggle up after a long day and dream of new adventures with my person. All of this sounds so wonderful to me. Now it just needs to become real. Will you help me? Then write to me if you can imagine adopting me. Best regards, Mayla! If you are interested in Mayla, please fill out our interest form () or write us an email or a message on Facebook. Mayla is ready for travel and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Gets along with other dogs.

About Mayla A

What life with Mayla A looks like

Mayla A is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mayla A, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mayla A?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mayla A on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mayla A if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mayla A already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mayla A isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mayla A and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
