Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 3 years

<3 Looking for a foster home in 92262 Birgland <3 Hello, I’m Mayla, born in 2023 and about 36 cm tall, weighing around 14 kg. Finally, I was able to leave the shelter in Romania and move into a wonderful foster home. There, I live together with dogs and cats. But it quickly became clear that this environment is too stressful for me. I was badly bitten in Romania and being kept in a small space with other dogs really stresses me out—unfortunately, I just can’t help but grumble all the time. The curious cats also really get on my nerves. On the other hand, I absolutely love people—whether big or small. And unfortunately, I tend to get jealous when other dogs come over to cuddle with my human. My human says I walk beautifully on the leash already, and of course it goes without saying that I do my business outside. I travel great in the car, love being on the go, and even in new situations, I’m a really cool dog. I’m neither fearful nor easily startled, and outdoors, I have no problems at all with other dogs of my own species. I learn quickly and happily; a dog school would definitely be fun for me. I can handle being alone for short periods already, and my human thinks that wouldn’t be a problem for me even for longer stretches. Right now, I’d love a little princess spot all to myself, away from other animals—lots of hands petting me, just for me alone. At home, I’m super well-behaved and calm, so I’d also be great as an office dog. I’d also be a wonderful companion for families with children—if they know how to properly interact with dogs and give me some peace and quiet once in a while. Since I love to chill at home after a nice walk, but can also entertain myself nicely or take a little nap, I’d also be a great fit for seniors. So you see, I’m really easygoing and am now waiting in Birgland for YOUR visit! When are YOU coming to see me??? MAYLA will be spayed, vaccinated, chipped, dewormed, tested with Snap4D, and handed over with an EU passport. She’ll be placed through a pre-check and contract via the animal welfare organization Casa Katharina e.V. Contact: or on Facebook. All our dogs travel with official traceability documents, and of course, we also comply with Paragraph 11.

About Mayla (w)

What life with Mayla (w) looks like

Mayla (w) is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. in Nürnberg.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mayla (w), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mayla (w)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mayla (w) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mayla (w) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mayla (w) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mayla (w) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mayla (w) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
