Megara

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy

Mixed-breed Megara - Puppy seeks responsible people Megara is a young mixed-breed female dog currently waiting for her chance at a Spanish animal shelter. She is still a small, cute puppy - but that won't last. When grown up, Megara is expected to be a medium-sized female dog weighing over 20 kg. Unfortunately, we don't know anything about her past history. Her future owners should therefore be prepared to patiently and lovingly teach her everything she needs for her life as a family dog from the start: housebreaking, leash training, recall, calmness, and the many rules of everyday life. And even if a puppy is especially cute: This phase only lasts a small part of a dog's life. The cute fur ball will become a strong young dog and later a grown female dog with her own needs. Puberty can bring quite a few challenges. Megara therefore needs people who are not just blinded by the puppy's eyes but are willing to accompany her over many years, educate her, provide her with exercise, and stay by her side even when growing up becomes more challenging. We wish Megara a loving and responsible home where she can grow up in peace and get to know the world. A home where the little puppy can gradually become a confident and well-accompanied adult female dog. If you are aware of what adopting a shelter dog entails and have fallen for the rescue dog, please contact the responsible SALVA Hundehilfe adoption coordinator. We would also be very grateful for any foster care opportunities!

About Megara

What life with Megara looks like

Megara is a medium-sized puppy mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Megara, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Megara?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Megara on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Megara if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Megara already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Megara isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Megara and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
