adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Merle has found her home! Her story: The female dog Merle already has a moving story behind her. Her mother Liv was left alone on the street, and just one day later, she and her siblings Nella, Kelly, Chloe, Lucinda, Lucas were born. Now, Merle is full of hope waiting for her very own home! Merle is about 2–3 months old and has a beautiful black coat with a white chest and a slightly white left paw – a truly special look that makes her something special! At first, Merle is a bit shy, but once she warms up, she shows her lively, playful, and cheerful side. She loves to explore her surroundings, play with her siblings, and even get some affectionate scratches in between. Since Merle is still a young puppy, she naturally still has to learn the Welpen-1×1. She is therefore looking for a loving family with patience and heart that gives her the time to settle in and discover the world step by step. With loving guidance and trust, she will become a faithful and joyful companion for life! In a few months, she will enter puberty – an exciting but also challenging phase where she might question some of what she has learned. But with consistent, but sensitive upbringing and a understanding family by her side, Merle will master this time well and grow into a wonderful female dog. You are in love? Please contact us. Thank you to Marie W. for giving Merle a name and thus an identity. As of 08.04. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Stand: 08.04.2025

About Merle

What life with Merle looks like

Merle is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Merle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Merle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Merle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Merle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Merle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Merle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Merle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
