adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Merle could travel to her foster home at the beginning of April and immediately won her foster family's hearts. The approximately 3-year-old, friendly female dog, with a shoulder height of about 38 cm and a weight of 13 kg, is incredibly loving, cuddly, and friendly to people. With her cheerful nature, she ensures that one simply can't help but love her. At home, Merle shows a pleasant calmness and relaxation. She enjoys the closeness to her people and comes to rest well. Out in the garden or on walks, she is instead attentive and interested. In the company of other dogs, Merle is initially more cautious and reserved, but she adjusts well to her person and gets along well with a confident only dog. On the leash, she already runs very orderly and is generally uncomplicated to handle. A small "highlight" that Merle also brings is that she has a pronounced hunting instinct; this should be kept in mind, especially in the forest. At the same time, she is very food-motivated, which makes training pleasant—small commands like "sit" and patient waiting are already being worked on diligently. Merle is house-trained and brings the best prerequisites for a relaxed coexistence. She is looking for a loving home where she will continue to be accompanied with patience, structure, and clear guidance—then she will develop into a wonderful, loyal companion. Merle is, of course, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and flea-treated and brings her EU pet passport to her new home. Stand: 29.04. Who would like to meet the charming female dog? Then contact us. Thank you, Marina J.! You have given Merle her name and thus the chance at a good life. Stand: 29.04.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Danke an Marina J.! Stand: 29.04.2026

About Merle

What life with Merle looks like

Merle is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Merle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Merle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Merle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Merle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Merle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Merle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Merle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
