Adopt MERLIN

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 11 years

MERLIN - urgently needs a home in his golden years! – male dog, 11 yrs, born ca. 2014, shoulder height 40 cm, vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, EU passport. – Ready to travel from Greece! – Merlin is an 11-year-old male dog. He was found with his tail cut off and a severe infection in the wound, tied up at an old pigsty on a plantation. The dog was tethered by a rope that had already cut deep into his neck. Merlin was rescued from there, nursed back to health, and now lives freely on a property with three other dogs. A kind animal lover cares for these dogs. Merlin is a sweet, small, affectionate dog who loves cuddles and attention. He enjoys playing fetch, knows commands like Sit, Down, and Heel, walks wonderfully on a leash, and happily rides in the car. He urgently needs a home. However, he shouldn’t go to a household with very young children, as they make him extremely nervous. Due to his traumatic past, he is also very cautious around men, but once he realizes you mean him no harm, he warms up quickly. Who would like to give Merlin some wonderful final years and help him forget his painful past??? Info & contact: Barbara Koch – Tel.: email:

MERLIN - sucht dringend auf seine alten Tage ein Zuhause ! - Rüde, 11 J., geb.ca.2014, SH 40 cm, geimpft, gechippt, kastriert, EU-Paß. - Wartet reisefertig in Griechenland ! Info u. Kontakt: Barbara Koch - Tel.: email: -

About MERLIN

What life with MERLIN looks like

MERLIN is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tier-Not-Hilfe in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting MERLIN, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about MERLIN?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tier-Not-Hilfe handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw MERLIN on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt MERLIN if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tier-Not-Hilfe will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is MERLIN already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if MERLIN isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tier-Not-Hilfe early rather than rehoming privately; they know MERLIN and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
