Messi

Collie · Male · Puppy

Meet Messi, a gorgeous 15-week-old Shepherd cross who is looking for a loving home of his own.Messi has spent the past seven weeks in foster and has grown into a wonderful, affectionate and characterful puppy. He has already made fantastic progress with his training and has been clean in the house throughout his time with his foster family, asking to go outside when he needs to.He has also settled into a brilliant routine. Messi is happy going into his crate at bedtime and sleeps through the night. He travels extremely well in a crate too and has even enjoyed camping trips in the van, where he has been relaxed, settled and completely clean. This adventurous little boy loves getting out and exploring. Whether he is walking through the woods or racing along the beach, Messi is happiest when he is discovering somewhere new. He also loves his toys and particularly enjoys playing with balls, fetching and learning to leave on command — especially when there is a tasty treat waiting for him!For such a young puppy, Messi already has some lovely manners. He doesn't bother his foster family while they are eating and has never attempted to steal food. He has also been left happily for periods of up to two hours, both at home and while safely settled in the van.Messi is a sociable boy who plays well with other dogs and has been good around children. At home, he is affectionate, eager to please and always ready for a belly rub. His foster family describe him as having plenty of personality and character, and it is clear that he has become a much-loved part of their household.Messi is still only 15 weeks old, so his new family will need to continue his training, socialisation and confidence-building as he grows. In return, they will be getting a bright, loving and enthusiastic young dog who has already been given a fantastic start in life.If you think Messi could be the missing member of your family, we would love to hear from you.

About Messi

What life with Messi looks like

Messi is a puppy/kitten collie dog waiting at RSPCA Cornwall Branch in Saint Columb.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Messi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Messi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Cornwall Branch handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Messi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Messi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Cornwall Branch will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Messi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Messi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Cornwall Branch early rather than rehoming privately; they know Messi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
