MIA

European Shorthair · Female · Young · 3 years

Status: Abandoned Breed: European Sex: Female Microchip: 967000010621353 Born: 21/04/2023 Country: Belgium Since in shelter: 07/03/2026 MIA is an adorable European kitten who has everything it takes to melt the heart of her future family. Gentle, affectionate, and incredibly social, she loves laps, tender moments, and sharing her humans' daily life. She enjoys sleeping in the bed, snuggling against you, and fully enjoying the presence of those she loves, as long as she feels safe. Her qualities: Very gentle, affectionate, social, and close to humans Used to children Comfortable indoors Handles loneliness Well in transit and in the car Her needs: MIA can live perfectly in an apartment. She had access to a 10 m² terrace, but doesn't need a garden to be happy. What matters to her is a calm, loving home where she can receive all the attention she deserves. Points to note: MIA does not tolerate the presence of other cats. She was abandoned because cohabitation stressed her out immensely, to the point of losing her fur. Dog compatibility: Unknown, but an environment without other animals would be ideal for her well-being. MIA dreams of a home where she can be the little queen of the house, surrounded by affection and tenderness. A gentle, present, loving family, with or without children, but without other cats, would be perfect for her. If you think MIA could find a place in your life, don't hesitate to contact us by phone. She is eagerly waiting to meet those who will finally offer her the stability and love she deserves. Adoption is only possible with a "permit to keep an animal" if you reside in Wallonia. For more information, please contact us ONLY by phone at 02 204 49 50. This animal is not suitable for homes with young children. This animal needs to be the only pet in the home.

About MIA

What life with MIA looks like

MIA is a young adult european shorthair cat waiting at Help Animals in Brussels.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting MIA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about MIA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Help Animals handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw MIA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt MIA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Help Animals will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is MIA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if MIA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Help Animals early rather than rehoming privately; they know MIA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
