Mia

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 10 years

General Information: Name: Mia Gender: Female Spayed: Spayed upon departure Date of birth approx.: 2016 Height approx.: Location: Minden Godparents: No Reserved: No Character Looking for a home: Mia Mia was also among the lucky dogs who recently were allowed to leave the Romanian animal shelter. She now lives at her foster home in 32429 Minden and is thoroughly enjoying life. We can easily picture Mia living happily with fit senior citizens. Despite her slightly crooked front legs, which she has carried without any problems throughout her entire life, she still loves to dash around the garden. In fact, the garden is a real wellness oasis for her. She loves rolling around in the grass, lying in the shade, or dashing across the lawn. Mia currently lives at her foster home with both female and male dogs. However, we would prefer to place her as an only dog—her very own princess. Mia quickly learned the routine of household life. She isn't frightened by noises inside the house. She walks nicely on a leash and is fully house-trained. When meeting new people, Mia always needs some time to get to know them first. Children should be older. We’d like to find this senior lady a loving, quieter home where she’ll be welcomed as a cherished family member. Ideally, the home would have a fenced-in garden. Mia is vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed, and will be rehomed through the association Freundeskreis Notfellchen e.V. Background We don’t know anything about her past. She probably came from the street or was abandoned there. Notes The parent animals are unknown, so no information can be provided regarding the breeds involved.

About Mia

What life with Mia looks like

Mia is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Freundeskreis Notfellchen e.V. in Dorsten.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Freundeskreis Notfellchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Freundeskreis Notfellchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Freundeskreis Notfellchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
