Adopt MIA

American Staffordshire Terrier · Female · Adult · 8 years

in the American Staffordshire Terrier type, born November 21, 2017. Appearance: dark gray with white markings. Temperament: calm, quiet, friendly towards people, suitable for a home without other animals. Health: undergoing dermatological treatment. Location: dog hotel, Warsaw. Contact for adoption: 661 665 695 (Natalia), email: MIA is approximately 3-year-old female dog in the American Staffordshire Terrier type, who came under our care thanks to the good hearts and actions taken by the Lublin Section of the Chełmska Society for Animal Protection. The female dog was in a tragic condition, very emaciated, terribly neglected, with untreated, pathologically changed skin. In one word, a picture of poverty and despair. The female dog is currently staying at the dog hotel. She is under the strict care of a dermatologist, who is fighting to restore her skin to health. We are currently waiting for the results of scrapings that will allow us to implement targeted treatment. Right now, MIA is receiving antibiotics and anti-itch medications and is being bathed in therapeutic shampoos. The female dog is showing us that she is calm and friendly towards people. She is slightly afraid of other dogs, does not want contact. She nicely finds her way around the block, in the apartment. She is quiet, calmly stays alone in the absence of the caregiver. Walks with her are pleasant and calm, MIA does not pull on the leash. The description of her behavior may still not be representative, as we have to admit, that her skin is burning from pain. At this moment, we do not know her relationship with children. Surely, we will look for a temporary (and also permanent) home for her, and for now we want to get to know her better. If you would like to help her, we most urgently need for her: Hexoderm shampoo, Simparica tablets 20-40kg, GrainFree lamb with sweet potato and mint food, blankets and dry beds (for dogs with skin diseases, this is gold, we often have to replace and scrub them). If you can help her with something, please get in touch with us! You can also support restoring Mi's dignity and health with a donation, by joining the collection or a traditional transfer: - account: 79 1160 2202 3463 Subject: Donation - MIA 09.04.2024 Dear ones, MIA is waiting for her own family, or at least a temporary home. So far, all appeals have gone unanswered, but we are not giving up! Will you help? MIA is about 4 years old, a female in the American Staffordshire Terrier type, who was taken in several months ago in an extreme case of neglect. Up to today, she is being treated for her skin (although it is not difficult or time-consuming). Thanks to the diet, medicines, MIA has regrown, and the itching no longer bothers her. But to maintain this condition, we still have to take care of her, so there is no need to hide, that we are looking for someone who is hardworking, responsible, caring, and attentive. MIA must receive only dedicated food, requires regular baths, and in case of worsening skin condition, visits to the dermatologist. Due to access to the doctor treating her, we are looking for a fosterer, who has the possibility to travel to Praga in Warsaw. MIA is friendly towards people and likes them. And this is already half the success in today's times. She is a home dog, capable of finding her way around an apartment. There is no problem with separation anxiety, or problems such as barking, destruction. Unfortunately, she might have accidents with cleanliness. During walks, she sometimes pulls excitedly, but with normal, clear guidance, she gets her head in 2 seconds. She loves long leash walks, during which she dances, runs after sticks. We do not recommend her for other dogs. She is not an aggressor type, but it can be seen that she had almost no contact with dogs and avoids them. She took a long time to get used to our dogs, who regularly ignored her and did not want anything from her. Now they go on parallel walks. We also do not recommend her for cats. Does someone of you have time, willingness, and ability to take her in and take care of her? Really. In every way, whether veterinary or fulfilling her walking and playing needs? MIA never had a normal home, we dream that her story finds a true happy ending. Let's talk about Mi? Do you want to become a fosterer? Are you thinking about adopting Mi? 501 797 018

w typie amstaffa, urodzona 21.11.2017. Wygląd: ciemnoszara, z białymi znaczeniami.Charakter: spokojna, cicha, miła dla człowieka, do domu bez innych zwierząt.Zdrowie: w trakcie leczenia dermatologicznego.Miejsce pobytu: hotel dla psów, Warszawa.Kontakt w sprawie adopcji: 661 665 695 (Natalia), mail: Mia to około 3-letnia sunia w typie amstaffa, która dzięki łańcuszkowi dobrych serc i podjętych działaniach przez Sekcję Lublin Stowarzyszenia Chełmskiej Straży Ochrony Zwierząt trafiła pod nasze skrzydła. Suczka w tragicznym stanie, bardzo mocno wychudzona, okropnie zaniedbana, z nieleczoną, zmienioną chorobowo skórą. Jednym słowem obraz nędzy i rozpaczy. Pogadamy o Mii? Chcesz zostać DT? Myślisz o adopcji Mii? 501 797 018 10.12.2025 Chcielibyśmy dziś

About MIA

What life with MIA looks like

MIA is a adult american staffordshire terrier dog waiting at Fundacja AST (Adoptuj Staffa i Teriera) in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting MIA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about MIA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja AST (Adoptuj Staffa i Teriera) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw MIA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt MIA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja AST (Adoptuj Staffa i Teriera) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is MIA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if MIA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja AST (Adoptuj Staffa i Teriera) early rather than rehoming privately; they know MIA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
