Adopt Mia

Podenco · Female · Puppy · 4 months

They say I am a very kind and friendly little dog girl. A bit shy, but yet approachable. I was quite thin when I was rescued and my puppies cost me a lot of energy. Although I may be delicate, I am a strong girl. I carefully and lovingly took care of my puppies. Now I hope to gain strength soon. I really wish for a proper home of my own where I can enjoy plenty of peace and get used to everything I don't know at my own pace. Mia's story: Mia was waiting by the gate of the shelter one evening. She probably heard our dogs and hoped she would also be welcome here. It was clear that Mia was pregnant. So we made a warm place for her in our shelter. She could rest in peace and spend the night safely. However, the peace was over the next morning. Mia gave birth to her seven puppies during the night. Mia found protection at the right time and the right place. We hope she has the strength to take care of her puppies and that the little ones stay healthy. That they also have the luck to find a beautiful forever home one day.

About Mia

What life with Mia looks like

Mia is a puppy/kitten podenco dog waiting at Hundehilfe Motril in St. Gallen.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundehilfe Motril handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundehilfe Motril will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundehilfe Motril early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
