Mia

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Mia is a beautiful cat who was born around 2023/2024. She is spayed and microchipped. Mia has already moved to a new home, but it quickly became clear that she does not get along with the existing cat. We are now looking for a new home for this lovely cat. Mia is an open cat who is generally not easily upset by new situations. At the same time, she has her own head and will show it. If she does not like something or wants to be left alone, she may hiss. This should be respected and she should be given the necessary space. For this reason, we do not see Mia in a household with young children. She needs people who understand her boundaries and give her the opportunity to decide for herself when she wants to be close. Otherwise, Mia is a very relaxed cat. She loves to burrow under blankets and make herself comfortable there. She also enjoys a secure balcony and likes to explore it. We can imagine Mia as a single princess. A quiet home where she can be herself and her people appreciate her independent nature would probably be just the thing for her. Who would like to give Mia a home where she can arrive and stay forever?

DE·Show original

Geburt: ca. 2023/2024 Kastriert und gechippt Mia durfte bereits in ein neues Zuhause ziehen. Leider hat sich dort schnell gezeigt, dass sie sich mit der vorhandenen Katze nicht versteht. Deshalb suchen wir nun erneut nach einem passenden Zuhause für die hübsche Samtpfote. Mia ist eine sehr offene Katze und lässt sich von neuen Situationen grundsätzlich nicht so schnell aus der Ruhe bringen. Gleichzeitig hat sie ihren eigenen Kopf – und den zeigt sie auch. Wenn ihr etwas nicht gefällt oder sie ihre Ruhe möchte, kann es schon einmal vorkommen, dass sie faucht. Das sollte man respektieren und ihr dann den nötigen Freiraum geben. Aus diesem Grund sehen wir Mia eher nicht in einem Haushalt mit Kleinkindern. Sie braucht Menschen, die ihre Grenzen verstehen und ihr die Möglichkeit geben, selbst zu entscheiden, wann sie Nähe möchte. Ansonsten ist Mia eine ausgesprochen entspannte Katze. Sie liebt es, sich unter Decken zu wühlen und es sich dort gemütlich zu machen. Auch einen gesicherten Balkon weiß sie sehr zu genießen und erkundet diesen gerne. Mia können wir uns gut als Einzelprinzessin vorstellen. Ein ruhiges Zuhause, in dem sie ganz sie selbst sein darf und ihre Menschen ihre eigenständige Art zu schätzen wissen, wäre für sie vermutlich genau das Richtige. Wer möchte Mia ein Zuhause schenken, in dem sie ankommen und für immer bleiben darf? display: none !important; .lSSlideOuter .lSPager.lSGallery {

About Mia

What life with Mia looks like

Mia is a small adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Porz in Köln.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Porz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Porz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Porz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
