Mia

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Mia - a friendly and affectionate female dog was surrendered to our animal shelter in Hungary along with her puppies. She is a good mother to her puppies, but as they are now almost ready to leave the nest, it is also time for her to find her forever home. She is a friendly and affectionate dog. She loves cuddles and petting; she is very open with women, but currently a bit reserved with men. She also gets along well with other dogs. Mia loves walks and we are still practicing walking her on a leash. Of course, there is still some work to be done on her basic obedience training and she needs to see more of the world. In new situations, Mia can sometimes be a bit uncertain, but with her humans by her side, she will quickly learn, as she seeks guidance from her caregivers. If you are looking for a loving and affectionate friend and companion, you might find it with our Mia! Mia is ready to travel in November. Preferred adoption upon arrival in Switzerland or pickup in Hungary is possible. We would be happy to provide more information!

DE·Show original

About Mia

What life with Mia looks like

Mia is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Your Heart 4 Rescued Dogs in Yourheart4dogs.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Your Heart 4 Rescued Dogs handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Your Heart 4 Rescued Dogs will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Your Heart 4 Rescued Dogs early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
